About Toru
Meowllo! My name is Toru (pronounced TOW-roo), and I am in search of my furever home.
The meaning of my name is “small tree” and it originates from Māori, the Indigenous Polynesian people of mainland New Zealand (Aotearoa). I think it suits me. I make life better, not because I produce oxygen like a tree, but because I produce hugs and purrs!
I live with my 6 siblings, and boy do some of them have big purrsonalities! It can be difficult to match their characters, so I can be a bit shy at times. When I come out of my shell, though, I muscle them out of the way so I can get bum scratches. Those are my absolute favourite!
Surprisingly, I do not match the energy and chaos of the average orange cat. I am very calm and would rather hangout with you than cause mischief.
I would thrive in a home that is quieter, but not *too* quiet. Older children would be best for me, as a loud environment may overwhelm me, and I would enjoy having a feline friend to hangout with.

Toru's Adoption Fee | $149.00
The feline adoption fees help cover the costs associated with rescuing, such as vetting, food, kitty litter and other expenses.
Prior to adoption, cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and given flea treatment. In short, they receive any necessary treatment.
For more information about adoption fees, please review our Adoption FAQs & Fees page. Alternatively, you can email us and communicate with our Adoption Coordinator.
Why We Love Fostering
-
I love animals and believe they all deserve a chance at love and having a happy home. Fostering has been my biggest reward in life. Often seeing these dogs go from shy, frightened, unsure, abused, and/or neglected, to the most loving, happy, and grateful family members. People always ask how I do it, but how can I not? Is it hard to let go? Of course, it is. But it’s not about me – it’s about getting these dogs into furever homes. When I see updates from adopters, nothing makes me happier. I trust Pets Alive to get these homes for my fosters, and when they leave me, sure I miss them, but it means I can take another one into my home. In all, I have fostered roughly 53 dogs. That’s 53 souls that otherwise, may not be alive today.
