- Purrsonalities in a few words?
“Grackle has always been the biggest of the litter, and we predict that he still has quite a bit of growing to do! He is gregarious and playful, although sometimes his confidence gets him into a bit of trouble. Grackle loves to be held and petted so much, and he rewards attention with loud purrs and blinks from his beautiful, golden eyes. He is learning to be brushed without biting the brush, and he really does know how to calm down nicely after a good play session.”
– Britta, Grackle’s foster mom
“Smart, strong and fun. Sparrow is curious and brave, and he really loves to chase and play with his furry mouse toy. While he is mostly an active and playful kitten, he is learning that being held and snuggled is really nice too.”
– Britta, Sparrow’s foster mom
- Any known medical conditions? No.
*** Please note that we are NOT accepting applications for the cats listed as Coming Soon. These cats have either yet to arrive or have only just recently arrived. Once their foster families get to know them a little better, a detailed bio outlining their personality and describing their ideal home will be posted and we will then begin accepting applications for them. ***
Have you ever watched sparrows and grackles outside? They are busy, busy, birds, and so my brother and I have lived up to our names by being busy, busy kittens. Do you like to play? Because we love to!
My name is Sparrow, and my favourite things to do are playing with plush mice and string toys.
I will play all by myself for a long time, or he will join in to chase and wrestle with my brother, Grackle! Speaking of Grackle, he is a BIG boy! He has big paws, big, golden eyes, and his fur is even bigger!
We make an excellent pair, keeping each other busy and entertained. According to our foster mom, watching us play is definitely entertaining too!
My foster mom also says that a few weeks ago, I was just a small kitten, but I’ve grown a lot so I can keep up with my big brother. Together, Grackle and I will be unstoppable adventurers.

Why We Love Fostering
-
There is a special joy in seeing the transformation from fear to trust in a foster cat’s face and posture, the first time they relax and warm up to me. There is so much comedy in a litter of crazy kittens, rollicking and tumbling, learning how to be big cats. Each foster kitty has been cared for as if they were my own, and I enjoy the confidence in the feeling that they are ready for their forever home. That is the biggest difference between choosing to adopt from a small rescue rather than a shelter, and why I love volunteering. People often ask me how I can be so strong to let such sweet kitties go to adoption, but the feeling that I have space to help another is worth the emotional goodbye. Penny is the twenty-first cat I have helped, and I am not going to stop anytime soon! Fostering for Pets Alive is by far the most rewarding volunteering I have ever done.
