About Butler
Butler is a very gentle and handsome dog looking for a special home. Sadly, it seems as though he lived a rather sheltered life prior to being rescued; as a result, he struggles to trust people and is extremely fearful of humans and their intentions. However, Butler absolutely loves other dogs and exploring the world through long walks and outdoor adventures. While some new sights and sounds can be overwhelming for him at first, once he realizes that he is safe, he overcomes his nerves very quickly.
Butler is looking for an adult-only home with another friendly dog to take his cues from and to help build his confidence around people (he is also great with small animals and has no prey drive).
Butler will need a very patient adopter who understands that it may ultimately take months to build a bond with him, but once they have earned his trust, they can count on having a best friend for life!
Adoption Fee | $500
Adoption fees help cover the costs associated with rescues, such as vetting, boarding and transportation.
They also cover spay/neuter, heartworm testing and treatment (if necessary), rabies and DHLPP vaccines, microchip, and one month of pet insurance prior to adoption.
For more information about adoption fees, please review our Adoption FAQs & Fees page.
Why We Love Fostering
-
There is a special joy in seeing the transformation from fear to trust in a foster cat’s face and posture, the first time they relax and warm up to me. There is so much comedy in a litter of crazy kittens, rollicking and tumbling, learning how to be big cats. Each foster kitty has been cared for as if they were my own, and I enjoy the confidence in the feeling that they are ready for their forever home. That is the biggest difference between choosing to adopt from a small rescue rather than a shelter, and why I love volunteering. People often ask me how I can be so strong to let such sweet kitties go to adoption, but the feeling that I have space to help another is worth the emotional goodbye. Penny is the twenty-first cat I have helped, and I am not going to stop anytime soon! Fostering for Pets Alive is by far the most rewarding volunteering I have ever done.
