About Nano
Mr. Nano is small but mighty! This pint-sized little man is very confident and is on the hunt for a strong leader.
Nano’s leader would ideally lead an active lifestyle and enjoy adventures! Nano needs structure in his life and limited luxuries like bed and couch privileges as he sees these luxuries as the opportunity to flex his power and take over the role of leader. He will tend to control things if he is able to, which is why he will do best in a home with rules, boundaries and limitations. Nano is okay with other dogs, but other dogs don’t seem to like Nano’s confident energy. He would be okay with the right match and proper introductions.
Nano will need to be crated at night and when left alone, and so far, he is doing well with his crate training – he isn’t a big fan at first and whines a bit in protest but quickly settles. He is very confident on walks and pulls to try and lead the way – especially if he spots a squirrel! Because of his keen interest in squirrels, we do not think cats will be a good match for him.
Nano has nailed his house training and hasn’t had a single accident in the house, but he is still working on some of his manners and will need some reminders to not jump up on people, and to keep his nose off of the counters. He loves his food and gets super excited to see what is on the menu for each meal!
Nano has displayed a bit of separation anxiety, so will need some help building his confidence around being left alone. He has also been struggling with affection and unfortunately, this struggle has led him to have a bite history. When he gets affection for a few minutes and then that affection is stopped, he has nipped/bit. We are working on creating a positive association with him for when affection is stopped.
Nano does like to be close to and around people and will generally tend to curl up right by your feet after being told the couch isn’t an option.
Nano is a complicated little dude that is looking for an experienced dog owner that is confident and ready to lead him into a better life.
